About the Board
The Board for Recreation, Arts and Cultural Activities (BRACA) is governed by Xenia Codified Ordinance Part 2 - Administration Code, Title Eight: Boards, Commissions, and Committees, Chapter 278: Board for Recreation, Arts, and Cultural Activities. The Board shall consist of five members, residents of the City, who are appointed by City Council to staggered terms of four years each. One Board member shall be a representative of the Board of Education of the Xenia Community Schools who is a resident of the City and whose membership is nominated by the Board of Education.
In addition to the five Board members, the City Council may appoint ex-officio, non-voting members of the Board, one of whom may be a student at Xenia High School, to advise the Board. One Council member serves as chair as appointed by the Council President at their second regular session in January of each year. BRACA is a recommending body to City Council and may coordinate recommendations regarding parkland issues with the Planning and Zoning Commission. The staff representative is the Public Service Maintenance Supervisor.
