This strategically important project involves installation of protected bike lanes and numerous improvements to pedestrian/bike crossings and intersections along the Detroit/Main corridors in Downtown Xenia, making the area safer and improving prospects to attract/grow downtown Xenia businesses and residents.
During the Play Xenia process, the City reached and asked citizens what types of park and recreation improvements they would like to see. One of the most-requested amenities was a splash pad, otherwise known as a sprayground. It's a zero-depth area filled with interactive water sprayers and fountains. Splash pads are a hit with kids.
Xenia Station will be the site of Xenia's first-ever splash pad, along with a newly revamped and relocated dry playground. Both amenities will be located just west of the caboose and shelter at the east end of the Xenia Station park, in which is currently a small portion of the parking lot.
