During the Play Xenia process, the City reached out and asked citizens what types of park and recreation improvements they would like to see. One of the most-requested amenities was a splash pad, otherwise known as a sprayground. It's a zero-depth area filled with interactive water sprayers and fountains. Splash pads are sought-after in many communities, and Xenia is fortunate to have one!
Xenia Station is the site of Xenia's first-ever splash pad, along with a newly revamped and relocated dry playground and an improved bike path connection to the Ohio-to-Erie Trail. These amenities are located near the caboose and shelter at the east end the park, replacing part of the parking lot.
A second open-sided shelter is in the works for installation at the west end of the property. This new shelter will relieve pressure on the existing shelter near the splash pad and provide residents and visitors with another covered space for parties, informal gatherings or simply a place to sit and enjoy the park.
